Take control of your heart health by knowing where you are and where you need to be. Review the following heart-healthy numbers with your primary care provider to start setting your goals.

Total cholesterol
Less than 200 mg/dL

LDL cholesterol
Less than 100 mg/dL (for general health)
Less than 70 mg/dL (for individuals with heart disease)
Less than 55 mg/dL (for very high-risk patients)

HDL cholesterol
50 mg/dL or higher

Triglycerides
Less than 150 mg/dL

Blood pressure
Less than 120/80 mmHg

Fasting glucose
Less than 100 mg/dL

Body Mass Index (BMI)
Less than 25 kg/m2

Waist circumference
Less than 35 inches (women)
Less than 40 inches (men)

Exercise
150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity/week
