Overview
Lung abscesses are pockets of infected fluid that develop within the lung tissue. There are several causes for lung abscesses and the treatment is typically determined by the severity. Because the source of the lung abscess is not always clear, further testing may be needed to help direct the type of treatment. Most of the time, these are caused by bacteria that respond to antibiotic treatment.
