Advance Care Planning Monthly Discussion Group

Opportunities for thoughtful group discussion about end-of-life care are offered at Parkview Regional Medical Center each month. Interested members of the community may consider bringing along a family member, significant other or friend for this conversation facilitated by Parkview’s Advance Care Planning team.

“Most of us have preferences about the care we want to receive if we experience a sudden, serious illness or accident,” according to Erica Downing, MSW, LBSW, Advance Care Planning, Parkview Health. “These are conversations that many people want to have with their family or physician, but they aren’t sure how to begin.”

Downing will guide the conversation to cover these topics:

  • Personal healthcare values and goals
  • Healthcare choices that may need to be made in the future
  • How to talk about these choices with a person’s doctor and those who matter most
  • Making a written plan that includes advance directives

Pre-registration is requested to ensure discussion materials are available for all participants. To register or receive more information, email Downing at Erica.Downing@parkview.com.
